A Good Message to Those Who Know the Truth but Still Choose LRC
Every struggle reaches a point where the issue is no longer about ignorance. It becomes a question of personal responsibility. Many Southern Cameroonians now understand the facts: the trusteeship history, the absence of a union treaty, and the requirements of Resolution 1608. Once someone knows these truths, continuing to align with La République du Cameroun is no longer an innocent mistake. It becomes a deliberate choice to remain inside an illegal administrative structure.

Here is the calm and mature way to say it:
“Once you know the truth about Southern Cameroons, the trusteeship, the absence of a union treaty, and the requirements of Resolution 1608, your choice to continue aligning with LRC is no longer ignorance. It becomes a personal decision to remain part of an illegal administrative structure. You have the right to your opinion, but you do not have the right to deny documented international law. We encourage you to stand on the side of legality, not convenience. We are not asking you to fight LRC; we are asking you to stop giving legitimacy to what international law never approved.”
Short. Direct. Respectful. It simply states the truth without attacking anyone.
2. What Legal Principle Are They Violating?
They are violating the Principle of Non Recognition of Illegal Situations. This rule comes from:
Article 41 of the International Law Commission
The UN Charter
Customary international law
The principle says:
No person or state should recognize or support a situation created by a serious breach of international law.
This fits Southern Cameroons perfectly, because:
there is no union treaty
there was no transfer of sovereignty
the trusteeship was never completed
LRC extended its administration illegally
So anyone who continues to support LRC authority after knowing these facts is participating in an illegal situation. They are violating the same rule applied to:
Crimea
Western Sahara
East Timor
Namibia
This is not politics. It is established international law.
3. Applying the Four Category Conflict Resolution Framework
Your framework makes everything clear.
1. Ignorance
They simply do not know. These people need education.
2. Cowardice
They know the truth but fear consequences. Fear of losing comfort or security.
3. Compromise
They know the truth but choose personal benefit over legality.
4. Justification
They know the truth and defend what is illegal. They create arguments to excuse wrongdoing. This is the most harmful group because they rationalize illegality.
Not everyone is malicious. Some are uninformed. Some are afraid. But once someone reaches category 3 or 4, they are no longer helping the movement.
4. A Direct Message Based on the Four Categories
Here is a refined version using your entire framework:
“If you once believed you were a Cameroonian because you saw ID cards, passports, police uniforms, and administrative offices, we understand. That was ignorance in category 1. But once you learn the truth and still choose LRC for comfort or fear, you move into category 2 or 3. And if you understand the truth and begin defending illegality with arguments, you have entered category 4, justification. That position makes you an obstacle to justice, not a participant in it. We are asking all Southern Cameroonians to step out of fear, out of compromise, and out of justification, and stand with the truth of international law.”
This message is firm but never hostile. It simply reveals the truth.
5. A Closing Line That Ties Everything Together
Here is the closing sentence:
“We did not create the illegality we inherited, but we refuse to pass it on to the next generation. If you know the truth, choose truth, not convenience.”
